1870 French Empire Marquetry Inlaid Suite Berger Armchairs & Settee Canape, Pair

A very rare and good looking set, the frames are mahogany with hand carved inlay to the curved backs, the upholstery is very old and has some kind of sofa silky finish. The arms each have rather stately looking figures carved in the top, they are giltwood as are the paw feet

In terms of condition the frames have various chips and scratches from honest age and use, the upholstery is okay but the settee has some marks to the base, I can have it fully restored should the new owners wish to include a complete French polish of all timber and new upholstery in a fabric of your choosing, for a price please contact me

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
