Antique late 19th century French rare and important Empire style pair of solid silver dishes, each of circular form with very fine acanthus leaves borders and chased with a frieze of floral scrolls and laurel leaves, winged griffins facing towards masks, and flanked by roman style urns on a matted ground. The dishes raised on cast winged lion paw feet. Engraved with the initials MPF within a garland.
Each plate is hallmarked French silver (950 standard, used 1838-present), Paris, Marks for Odiot (Between 1894 and 1906 the company used the “Pair Cie” with a lamp mark.
